Explore composition and the creation of a personal visual vocabulary with internationally-known artist, Jonathan Talbot. Enjoy opportunities for new spontaneity as you learn his exciting collage technique that eliminates liquid adhesives from the collage-making process. Other subjects covered include the"paperless" transfer of printed and photocopied images, tissue overlays, permanency of materials, preparation of substrates, sources of tools and materials, presentation and framing of finished works, and more. The Morris Museum of Arts and Sciences, Marlboro College, The New Jersey Center for Visual Arts, Kansas State University, The Connecticut Graphic Arts Center, Sacred Heart University, The Mendocino Art Center, Esalen, The Ohio Watercolor Society, and Mutual Benefit Life, Inc. are just a few of the many institutions which have hosted past Talbot Workshops and Demonstrations.

Saturday & Sunday, February 26th & 27th, 2011. WARWICK, NY: COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION 2011 / Come to Warwick, NY for this 2-day weekend workshop in the artist's studio. Enjoy new opportunities for spontaneity as you learn how to eliminate liquid adhesives from the collage-assembly process. Other subjects to be covered include "Getting Started," Accessing our Creative Energies, "Paperless" Transfer of Printed and Photocopied Images, Preserving Found Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more (this workshop's specific goals will be determined by the participants at the beginning of the workshop). Hours: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM with optional evening hours on Saturday at no extra cost. Workshop Fee: $350. Includes all materials, a free copy of "Collage: A New Approach," access to all tools in the studio, and continental breakfast, full lunch, and refreshments each day. Sunday, March 6th, 2011: EXPLORING IMAGE TRANSFER / During this 1-day workshop in the artist's studio, participants will explore a variety of image transfer techniques for paper and canvas including Acrylic Medium based transfers, Inkjet transparency film transfers, Blender Markers, Lazertran, and more. Hours: 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Workshop Fee: $125. Includes all materials, access to all tools in the studio, continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. Saturday, August 20th, 2011. WARWICK, NY: ACRYLIC IMAGE TRANSFER WORKSHOP / This one-day workshop in Jonathan's studio will explore the use of acrylic medium to transfer images from a variety of sources onto paintings and collages. Exercises will include black and white, color, and hand-colored images. None of the dangerous chemicals that are used in some image transfer processes will be used in this workshop. Hours: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Workshop Fee: $75. Includes all materials, handouts, refreshments, and lunch. Space is limited and registrations will be honored in the order in which they are received. BECAUSE RESPONSE WAS SO STRONG AN ADDITIONAL SESSION HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND (SEE BELOW). PLEASE CONSIDER REGISTERING FOR THE OCTOBER 1st & 2nd SESSION. -JT 8/7/2011 /\/\/\/\ Collage is the ideal medium for developing compositional skills - one can arrange and rearrange the elements of one's composition until a satisfactory result is achieved. During this 2-day weekend workshop in the artist's studio we will employ collage to"free-up" our approach to composition and explore a variety of the aspects of design.. Included will be the basics of collage without liquid adhesives, explorations of intellectual, intuitive, interactive and kinesthetic approaches to line, shape, color, texture, movement, rhythm, relativity, interest, and unity, and more (some of this workshop's specific goals will be determined by the participants at the beginning of the workshop). Hours: Instruction from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm both days with optional studio hours from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Saturday and 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Sunday at no extra cost. Saturday & Sunday, October 22nd & 23rd, 2011. WARWICK, NY: ORANGE COUNTY SOUTH OPEN STUDIOS. On this weekend I will join 49 other artist neighbors in Southern Orange County, NY and open my studio to one and all. Visitors to my studio will find etching, painting, and collage demonstrations as well as a display of finished works. Refreshments, a Picnic Area, and Bathroom Facilities will also be available. I will have a map showing the locations of the other artists' studios as well. My studio is accessable to persons with disabilities. Hours: 11AM to 5PM.   JONATHAN TALBOT: A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

The works of artist Jonathan Talbot have been exhibited at The National Academy and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, have represented the U.S. overseas in exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution, and are included in museum collections in U.S. and Europe. Talbot's works include oils, watercolors, etchings, collages, and multi-dimensional collage-constructions. Among the public collections holding Talbot works are The Newark Museum, The Smith College Museum, The Everhart Museum, The Byer Museum, The Montclair Museum, The Free Library of Philadelphia, The San Francisco Academy of Art, Fairleigh Dickinson University, The Provincetown Historical Society, and the Toronto Central Library. Talbot maintains his studio in Warwick, NY where he lives with his wife Marsha. They are the parents of two children: a daughter, Loren, and a son, Garret. For additional information Click Here
